Privacy Policy

Three different groups use BoroScan, and we handle their data differently:

• Our team — salespeople with a BoroScan account.
• People requesting access — anyone who fills in the form on our home page.
• Building owners and managers — people who open a building report we shared and choose to send us a utility bill.

If you have an account: your name, email address, an optional phone number you add yourself, and your role. Plus the work you do in the app — the buildings you save, the notes and contacts you enter.

If you request access: the name, email address and company you type into the form.

If you send us a utility bill: your name, phone number, email address, the file you upload, and the building it relates to.

Location: if you allow it, the app reads your device's location to center the map on where you are standing. It is used on your device to move the map and is never stored on our servers or shared. You can refuse, and the app works — you pan the map yourself. You can change this any time in your device settings.

Most of what BoroScan shows comes from public records that New York City and New York State publish openly: the Department of City Planning's PLUTO tax-lot data, building footprints, HPD building and owner registrations, Department of Buildings permits, energy benchmarking disclosures, and the State's corporate registry.

We did not collect this information from the people it describes, and we do not control it. If a record about you is wrong, it has to be corrected at the agency that published it — correcting it there is what changes what BoroScan shows. If you want us to stop displaying a specific record in the meantime, write to us at the address below.

• To run the app: sign you in, save your work, show you your leads and not someone else's.
• To decide who gets access when someone asks for it.
• To check whether a building qualifies for a utility program and follow up about it.
• To reach you about work you started with us — a bill you sent, a question you asked.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.

We use a small number of services to run BoroScan. Each sees only what it needs:

• Base44 hosts the app, signs you in, and stores its data and uploaded files.
• Google handles sign-in if you choose “Continue with Google,” and serves the fonts the site uses.
• CARTO, Esri and NY State serve map tiles and aerial imagery. Loading a map sends them your IP address and the area you are looking at, as any map does.
• NYC and NY State open-data services answer the public-record lookups. They receive your IP address and what was looked up, not who you are.

We will also disclose information if the law requires it.

Account and CRM records are kept while the account is active and for as long as we need them for the work they belong to. Access requests are kept until we have decided on them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Utility bills and the details sent with them are kept while we are assessing eligibility and as long as any resulting program paperwork requires. Delete your account and we remove your account record; see below.

Delete your account. Open the gear icon in the app and choose “Delete my account.” This permanently removes your account and signs you out. Leads and contacts you created for the company remain company records.

Location. Turn it off in your device settings at any time. The app keeps working.

Everything else. Email us at shai@insulation.builders to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to these; we will honour the request either way. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

BoroScan is a tool for contractors and building owners. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Access to the app is by invitation, sign-in is required for everything except the public building reports we share deliberately, and each salesperson sees their own leads. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not keep information we do not need.

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and move the effective date at the top. Material changes will be told to account holders directly.
